Eastern Roman Empire

so...this was a telegram I recently received, I will respond asking them to define what they are looking for with a little more clarity:

hi, i am from the Eastern Roman Empire. I would like to extend a proposal.

I would like your government to decide if you would consider merging to Eastern Roman Empire.

I do not ask for a definet answer just a step closer to another ally.

who would be "eaten" as a region us or them

I agree that you need to have them define what exactly they are looking for. At first it sounds like we would become a part of their region, so it would all be one. Then it says it is just a step closer to being allies, which is definitely a different idea.

I like our region, and I like our active people, so I wouldn't want to be part of another group, but if they are saying that we would be allies and support each other in proposals, etc., then maybe. We should look at their history first, though.

I agree with revolutionary times, I don't like the idea of becoming just a part of a "Roman Empire". Besides, we don't want much to do with empires (until we build up our socialist one;)). They sound contradictory. Maybe they meant to have an embassy in our region and we in theirs.

It would do our region good to get some allies, but I do not think we should assimilate ourselves into their region. We have a goal already for a Socialist Alliance.

From the looks of their site, we might remain a region, but that region would become a province of their alliance. It would be us being eaten by them. I would not support that.

I proppose opening a votation post. Personally and honestly I, as, probably, all of you, say "no".

I think we are all in agreeance, no merger, but an alliance with the 'Empire' would help us, if they are socialist.

If they are not, then we respectfully decline. Are they a powerful region?

It doesn't really matter if they are powerfull now, since they will start all over again in Nation States 2 anyway, so wageing war to them there will be much easier.
